The Aberystwyth University Ceramics Collection and Archive at Aberystwyth University in located in Aberystwyth, Wales, is a center holding one of the largest collections of British studio pottery in the United Kingdom.[1]
It has been asserted to be the birthplace of studio pottery, which is different from other pottery in some important ways that could be explained briefly here perhaps.
A gallery is open to the public as a museum. The museum hosts exhibitions of contemporary studio pottery.
The collection includes pieces from noted studio potters such as Michael Cardew, Bernard Leach, Katherine Pleydell-Bouverie, and William Staite Murray. The collection also includes a number of rare pieces of porcelain from Nantgarw Pottery. There are related documents in the Aberystwyth University Ceramic Archive.
The university is the publisher of the Ceramics academic journal.
